Ode to Jerusalem takes its title from the color of the squares, so reminiscent of Jerusalem stone, as well as the silhouette seen within the "stones." For me, it's a visualization of the yearning toward Jerusalem that has been in the minds, hearts and prayers of the Jews for more than two thousand years.

The technique for this painting is extremely painstaking. One of the wonderful aspects of my painting technique is that as the paint drips and dries, it often forms patterns of great beauty. I've taken these excess drippings and other deliberate pours, and allowed them to dry, and then carefully cut them into one inch squares. Ode to Jerusalem is a collection of hundreds of these squares and arranged on a panel. This technique takes many separate pours and hours to create the squares and then build the mosaic, and then carefully transfer my mosaic to its permanent position on the panel. This painting is only available as an original, as I feel any kind of reprint would not convey the texture and structure of the original to my satisfaction as its creator.
